COURSE DESCRIPTION
The NAVC Institute is proud to offer another in a series of highly successful general surgery courses. Practical reconstructive surgery, surgery of the respiratory system, the thorax, and the external genitalia will be covered in this year’s program. The registrant will learn many practical surgical techniques which can easily be incorporated into everyday practice.
In the hands-on surgical laboratories, the registrant will learn basic procedures such as stenotic nares repair,
tracheostomy, thoracic tube placement, aural hematoma repair, rotational and sliding flaps, Y/Z plasty and free skin grafts on dog cadavers. Participants will work with group mates in the interactive wound lab to manage challenging wound closures. More advanced techniques including soft palate resection, laryngeal tieback, thoracotomy, lung lobectomy and axial pattern flaps elevate the practitioner’s surgical skills.
Dr. David Bradley from Aesculight™ will provide carbon dioxide laser equipment for use in the laboratory. Dr. John Huhn from Covidien™ will teach autostapling techniques.
The course offers something for everyone. A team of surgical experts delivers focused instruction every step of the way.
