Course Description

Think like a cat: try imagining your clinic experience from the cat’s perspective.  Once you do this, you will experience a paradigm shift in how you practice.  By making this leap, you can learn how to reduce the stress for the cat and also for the client.  Within this framework, we will investigate and update our understanding of feline medicine and care.
Think of the top feline medical conditions…diabetes, hepatic diseases, renal insufficiency, lower urinary tract diseases….all these will be discussed with a unique perspective – what do the client and  the cat feel as well as what is going on physiologically.  With these insights, you will be able to deliver veterinary care in a manner that reduces stress for the cat and the client --stress that is known to exacerbate the illness.
By empowering clients, we improve their observational abilities and teach them to recognize subtle signs of illness so that they seek veterinary care sooner, resulting in better health for their companion.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Handle cats with less stress and greater enjoyment for all involved.
  • Improve diagnostic yield through better sample collection and results interpretation.
  • Develop tools and increased confidence in the management of the feline diabetic patient.
